Getting Started in Cloud CTF - Assistant

Abstract

This article will cover how to manage the basics of Cloud CTF. This article is intended for CTF Assistants. Please refer to the section titled Cloud CTF Roles for more information on Cloud CTF roles.

Checklist Before Getting Started with Cloud CTF

  1. Please make sure you have an account with the U.S. Cyber Range. If you do not yet have an account, please reach out to your CTF Admin or Instructor.

  2. For a brief introduction to Cloud CTF, please visit the article titled Cloud CTF Overview.

Important

Please note that Cloud CTF Assistants share many of the same permissions as CTF Admins, with a few exceptions. Cloud CTF Assistants cannot create a CTF environment or competition, invite CTF Admins or CTF Assistants to the CTF, remove CTF Admins or CTF Assistants from the CTF, edit a CTF Admin or CTF Assistant's information or role, change any user's role, view or access any challenge library, or save challenges.

How to Create Challenges

CTF Assistants can create challenges for CTF competitions. This feature provides Assistants with an option to create original challenges from scratch that can easily be imported into a competition. CTF Assistants can refer to our Cloud CTF Challenge Management article to learn about advanced challenge features in Cloud CTF.

How to Set Start and End Times for a CTF Competition

Don’t forget to set a start and end time for the competition. Visit the article titled Setting Cloud CTF Start and End Times for a detailed look into controlling the lifespan of a competition.
